Our core mandate as an organization is to help reduce maternal and child mortality in Africa. It was in line with this that we launched our new project. ‘ WaCHAG Pregnancy School,’ on the 6th July 2017 at T-HAVANA Park and Restaurant in Tema, Greater Accra. In attendance were health professionals, parents, expectant mothers and stakeholders in the community. Several presentations were made . Mrs Ruth Sally Kodam ,the executive Director of the organization gave the welcome address and also spoke on the purpose of gathering. In her presentation, she emphasized that most of the deaths that occur during pregnancy are preventable and education is a great tool that can be used to address the problem. Other members of the team gave presentations on pregnancy, labor ,delivery and post partum depression. Attendees were given the opportunity to make contributions and give suggestions. Among the suggestions was the need to hold more meetings to educate expectant mum’s and also to also include preconception care. Educational materials , received from MAMA Academy, UK were also distributed to participants. The program ended with much anticipation for the upcoming programs.Couples and women who will wish to enrol in our course can call us on +233242281957 or send us an email on firstname.lastname@example.org. The course will take a period of six weeks. It is aimed at equipping expectant mum’s and their families with the knowledge they need to go through safe delivery and pregnancy. Support groups Will also be created to support mum’s. The venue is not only limited to Tema. Couples can request for private classes in the comfort of their homes.
